Macro-Editing

Fixing the Big Picture

Writing the first draft is only the first step toward creating a finished novel. The real novel takes shape during the editing process. The start of that process is Macro-Editing. Macro-Editing is "big picture" editing. We aren't worrying about punctuation, spelling, sentence structure or any of that. Those are important, but they come later. Macro-Editing focuses on those areas related to the three major components of a piece of fiction: Plot, Character, and Setting.

In this course you will learn how to fix plot holes, catch inconsistencies, improve your characterization, create believable settings.

"Plot doctors," "Novel Fixers," "Developmental Editors," and "Finishers" will charge you  $100s of dollars to do what you can do yourself with these tools.

This web-based course is designed so you can move at your own pace. Study one lesson and then work on your novel, then return for the next lesson. As always, the instructor is available for consultation by email or in the online discussion forum.

Just $10 for this course taught by veteran writing teacher and novelist Terri Main.
